For more than three decades, Ole Petter Wullum has worked simultaneously as a practicing designer, educator and researcher within the field of form.

Combining 30 years of professional design practice with 30 years of teaching and research in form, perception and visual composition, his work explores how objects communicate through structure, relation, reduction and cultural meaning.

This long-term intersection between practice and pedagogy forms the foundation of FORM AS THINKING™ — an ongoing book and research project investigating form not as appearance or styling, but as a way of organising perception, behaviour and understanding.

Positioned between industrial design, visual culture and emerging AI-driven processes, the project proposes a new framework for reading and constructing form in a time where objects increasingly operate within larger systems of identity, communication and perception.

Rather than pursuing novelty or expression for its own sake, Wullum’s work focuses on clarity, archetype, structural precision and perceptual presence — exploring how reduced forms can produce objects that feel immediate, calm and enduring.
